Urban Exploration or urbex stands for illegally entering and scaling human made constructions such as buildings, churches, towers, factories or tunnels.

“Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst” – I spy with my little eye, an ongoing photography project, follows urban exploration from a distance. The series accompanies people during their explorations without entering the sites itself. Photographs are taken from nearby buildings, from a hillside, or from the street. Human figures appear only as small elements within the frame, giving scale to the monumental man-made structures they move around.

“Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst”—a play on presence and absence, visibility and concealment. Only on closer inspection does a person become visible in the image.
