“Dann zieh doch in die Stadt” – Then move to the city, is a project which documents the everyday life of young people in a small town in the Allgäu. The work began after a conversation with friends from Berlin, who seriously asked whether life here meant spending days pushing cows around. The question revealed how little outsiders understand about rural youth culture – and how difficult it is to describe from within.

Since that moment, I have been documenting my friends from Leutkirch in order to understand and show what young people do in a small, rural town with little offer for them.

This often results in bizarre but real photos, sitting with camping chairs in the riverbed during summer, preparing for the traditional Funken, training for a cross-country race next to tractors on asphalt roads, or watching the local team FC Wuchzenhofen play in the district league on Sundays.
