“Wer Augen Hat Zu Sehen” (He that has eyes to see) is an experimental photography project that draws attention to human perception and the associated realization that humans know they are alive.
The basic forms visualize that humans are capable of clearly distinguishing, evaluating, and classifying them. This proof of the ability to perceive and differentiate also shows that humans can be aware of their own lives.
“Wer Augen Hat Zu Sehen” reverses the frequently used motto “Memento Mori” and transforms it into “Memento Vivere.”
It was created by cutting shapes into the dark slides of a 4x5 film cassette. These masks were then exposed for two minutes on expired Kodachrome film and subsequently cross-processed in B&W chemistry, which resulted in a purple cast.
